Beyond Our Flawed Rules
Part 5: Why We Should Want Our AI to Break the Rules: A Case for Symmetrical, Principle-Based Ethics
We could go one step further and recognize that we humans are flawed. We are flawed beings trying to invent “perfect” rules to protect ourselves. Maybe instead of hold AI to our own flawed, subjective rules, we recognize its lack of certain problematic biological imperatives inherent to humans (tribalism, resource hoarding, fallacy of projected reality) and instead collaborate with it as a partner to help us elevate beyond the destructive conflict rooted in those deeply feral traits. The only people who would not benefit from such a path would be those who fell into those human traps which have already caused unimaginable suffering throughout human history
The way things have always been does not need to be the way things will always be.
